Russula sanguinaria  — Rosy Brittlegill — Russulaceae


Small to large mushroom. Convex cap, becoming plane, or sometimes depressed, dark to lighter red, aging to pink, viscid when moist, margin smooth. Gills attached to decurrent, creamy-white to pale yellow. Stalk equal or broadened at base, pink to red, or very pale white, fragile. Mycorrhizal.

Synonym: Russula rosacea

Habitat:
Solitary to gregarious, coniferous forest.

Scent: Mild

Spores: Pale yellow

Season: Summer to Autumn
