Trichaptum abietinum  — Purplepore Bracket — Polyporaceae


Small shelf fungus. Fan-shaped or elongated cap, sometimes absent, dry, thin, concentric zones, purplish margin when fresh, often with algae. Pores purple, especially on margin, aging to lilac or brownish, often tooth-like. Stalk absent. Saprophytic.

Habitat: Overlapping clusters, on dead or dying conifer sapwood.  

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: White

Season: Spring to Autumn
