Mycenis adonis — Scarlet Bonnet — Mycenaceae


Small mushroom. Conical cap, becoming bell-shaped, and then umbonate, smooth, pinkish-red to orange, fading to orange-buff. Marginal lines when wet.  Gills attached to slightly decurrent, white with pinkish hue, with scarlet edges when young. Stalk tall relative to cap, slender, equal, sometimes with longitudinal fibers. Saprophytic.


 Habitat: Solitary to groups, needles and other litter beneath conifers

Scent: not distinctive

Spores: white

Season: Autumn
