Rhodocollybia butyracea forma asema — Butter-cap — Marasmiaceae


Small to large mushroom. Convex cap, aging to planar, often umbonate, smooth, slippery when wet, reddish-brown to pale brown, aging to pale tan. Gills crowded, attached or free, white, edges becoming frayed when mature. Tall stalk, club-shaped, sometimes pinched at base, whitish above, similar to cap below. Saprophytic.

Synonym: Collybia butyracea
 
Habitat: Scattered to gregarious, humus in coniferous forest.

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: White to pale pink

Season: Autumn, Spring.
