Hericium abietis — Bear's-head — Hericiaceae


Medium to large mushroom. Fruiting body without a cap or stalk, consisting of a dense and compact network of branches that end in short spore-bearing spines. White to buff, aging yellowish. Saprophytic.
 
 
Habitat:  Solitary or a few together on dead conifer logs, stumps, and snags. Can reoccur for several years.

Scent: Mild
