Nidula candida — Jellied Bird's-Nest Fungus — Agaricaceae


 
Tiny, cylindrical maturing to vase-shaped, with circular rim, less than a cm in diameter. Shaggy on exterior, grayish to cinnamon. Immature mushrooms covered with lid. Flaring cup mouth. Peridioles (eggs) embedded in gel which dries, no cords. Persistent, sometimes resprouting.

Habitat: Groups on rotting wood, garden debris, forest.

Scent: Not distinctive

Spores: Light brown

Season: Autumn to early winter
