Gymnopus acervatus — Clustered Collybia — Agaricaceae


Medium-sized mushroom, reddish-brown cap with pale edges, convex and incurved, broadening with age. Gills white to dingy, close, attached to nearly free. Stalk reddish-brown, long, with white tomentum at base, extending upwards. Hygrophanous, becoming paler when moist, not transparent. Grows in large bundle-like clusters. Saprophytic.

Habitat: Small groups or rings, on rotting conifer wood.

Scent: Mild to strong, fungal

Spores: White to pale cream

Season: Summer to autumn
