Crucibulum laeve — Common Bird's Nest Fungus — Agaricaceae


Resembling tiny bird’s nest, with spores developing in “eggs”.  Round, then cup-shaped, with covering that disintegrates to reveal interior of “nest”. Yellowish-brown to brown exterior, persistent. Pale interior, eggs (Peridioles) pale brown, attached by cords.

Habitat: Wood chips, manure, nut shells, other debris. Worldwide, throughout Pacific Northwest, lowlands to subalpine.

Scent: Obscure

Spores: Cinnamon-brown

Season: Summer, Autumn
